It is hard to believe that the students are back at Miami and that it is the first of September and Fall is upon us.
This month brings many great things to Oxford. Our Farmers markets are full of wonderful year end produce, jellies and breads. The weekend of the 15TH and 16TH Art All Over Studios are open for a fantastic Driving Tour of the area's many talented artists. From FiberArt to Pottery and home made gift items galore. The State to State Half Marathon will take place the same weekend. The marathon participation increases with each succeding year as more and more runners discover the challenging terrain and the opportunity to run the 13 mile course.
The Miami Art Museun opens it's Inovative and Exceptional exhibit of CHOPPED The Art of the Custom Motorcycle on September 9th. The Exhibit will run through early December and is a one of a kind in this area. If you show your voucher, obtained when attending the exhibit, you may receive discounts at participating merchants and lodging facilities in the area.
We are enjoying cooking on our grill while the weather holds and want to share one of our favorite recipes with you.
VIDALIA ONIONS:
Peel the onion leaving the root end intact.
Cut a small hole in the top of the onion, I use a mellon baller.
Place a beef bulion cube in the hole and fill around it with softened butter or margarine.
Loosely wrap the onion in foil using two thicknesses if not using heavy duty.
Place on the grill and cook according to size of the onion until soft.
Serve on the plate still wrapped in foil and peel foil back to alow the juice created by the bulion cube and butter to stay within the foil packet.
YUM!
